Meet Kristin
Eating with Purpose was born out of my own struggles with multiplying health issues and my relationship with food. I have learned invaluable information over the years to overcome numerous issues, and my passion is to share this info to help as many people as possible. I work with Doug Kaufmann’s TV show Know the Cause (the most viewable health talk show in America) where I currently do nutrition segments, conduct nationwide phone consultations and write for the monthly “Know This!” newsletter. I have also done radio spots on both Kyle Drew’s SuperHealth and Martie Whittekin’s RadioMartie shows. I teach lectures across the country to various groups and launched one-of-a-kind women’s health retreats in Dallas.
I understand that most people know that it is important to eat healthy, but they are often confused and overwhelmed with how to make that a reality in their own lives. I believe extraordinary health starts in the kitchen and teach people how to make it fun and simple.
I eat the Phase 1, 2, & 3 Lifestyle year-round, making it a lifestyle for me and my family. I practice what I preach, so I understand the daily obstacles the average person faces. I use my own struggles and experiences to help others (instead of just theories and text-book philosophy), making my program realistic and attainable.
I provide the knowledge and tools that clients need to be successful; however, the client is ultimately responsible for their success. It takes determination and discipline, but transformation and permanent change is achievable.
I am a culinary graduate of the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver, Colorado and I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Retail, & Sports Administration from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.
I know how extremely difficult it is to overcome health and weight issues, but I am living proof that it IS possible!

Kristin,
You are so pretty, and always wear a smile. You seem to really enjoy what you are doing. I love KTC. It’s really enlightning. You all break it down where people can understand what you are talking about. Keep up the good work. God Bless!
Thanks so much Susan! Yes, I do love what I do… and am so thankful to have the opportunity to interact with wonderful people like you!! Blessings, Kristin
Kristin, I have enjoyed your segments on Know the Cause, a program that I have watched for over 4 years and have appreciated positive changes in my health. Currently, my husband, who until 2 years ago, was a very healthy, physically fit man who had always been careful of his diet. At almost 70 years old, he began a slow memory decline worsened by a near heat stroke one year ago. Soon after that experience, he also began having Parkinson’s like symptoms, without tremors; bent forward posture, shuffling while walking…and increasing dementia, which increased remarkedly during a very recent trip to see our granddaughters. He has been on Prevagen for almost a year. Aside from being very faithful to the Phase One Diet, are there any specific things you might suggest? This is a man gifted with a genius IQ, near photographic memory, holds masters degrees and lifetime teaching credentials. It has been so sad to see this mental decline and loss of his physical skills, as well. Thank you so much. Pam
Hi Pamela! Check out this video, http://www.cbn.com/tv/1472017228001 on coconut oil improving mental decline. Your husband is blessed to have such a caring wife. I pray this blesses you both. Keep us posted. Much Love, Kristin
Hi Kristin, I have been watching know the cause for several years and have been educated through Doug’s show, God bless this man for all his knowledge that he has shared. My question is that i have the Hep c virus and doctors have said possible cirrhosis. I have done ct scans and feel terrible after the procedure, next doctors want a MRI but opted out because of the risks of kidney failure. I have chosen the homeopathic way instead of medical. I detoxed with coffee enemas and cod oil packs, eating as healthy as I can afford. After I detoxed i lost weight(about 10 lbs) but would like to gain some weight because I am underweight. Can you suggest how I can put on weight the healthy way, what kind of foods can I eat that will not affect my liver. I know the liver can rejuvenate and that is what my goal is rather than get chemo or other treatments that are so harsh.I am trusting and believing God first, along with the protocol I am on. Blessings to you
Hi Eva, I’m obviously not a doctor and can’t give any medical advice, but if I was needing to gain weight I would use whole foods like avocado, coconut, especially coconut oil, nut/seeds, etc. Calorie dense whole foods are my first pick.
Now for those of you reading this that need to lose weight I would recommend the very same foods, just in smaller portions. The body is amazing at adapting to what it needs, we just need to use the foods God put here to help it along.
love watching you on know the cause. you give us such good info.
can you tell me what name brand stainless & enamel coated pots & pans you recommend?
GOD BLESS,
Thanks Ann! My favorite cookware is Chantal’s Copper Fusion line. Love it!!
Hello, Kristin
When is your next lecture in Dallas?
I would love to come !
Thank you and God bless.
Kristin,
Which degree did you get from The Nutritional Institute of Denver? Just curious, I am reviewing the program.
Thanks and God Bless!!
Hi Ann! I did the Natural Food Chef Program at NTI. It was amazing, in fact I was just telling my husband tonight how thankful I was that I had the opportunity to attend, and I graduated back in 2008! What drew me to that program was it provided me the best of both worlds, a toned down nutritionist degree along with a chef degree. So I was able to put what I was learning to practical use. That has been my passion, to bridge the gap between people knowing what to eat and how to actually make it taste amazing and incorporate it into their busy lives. Keep me posted if you decide to go! Hugs, Kristin

Hi Kristin – I work with your sister in Charlotte and she recommended your page to me! I have a passion for healthy food and practice a vegetarian and sometimes vegan lifestyle! I am currently following Kimberly Snyder, Margaux J Rathbun, and Mimi Kirk but I’m excited to begin reading your blog and adding to my food knowledge and living a more whole and healthy lifestyle!
Thanks for stopping by Laura! I hope you find some helpful information here. Give my sister a big hug for me!!
Hi Kristin,
On Know The Cause today you mentioned that dried onion soup contains
corn.I use it in my meatloaf. What would be an alternative?
Thank you,
CA
Hi Kristen, I’m so glad you are now on KTC! We needed a woman on there – lol! Now I’ve just found your wonderful website! Thanks for sharing your passion with all of us!
I do have one question which I’ve been unable to find the answer anywhere. I’m wondering about green vs red apples on the anti-fungal diet. Why are red apples never recommend? And with the green apples, why without the skin? If you can help with this i’d really appreciate it, my trainer recommends red apples – go figure!
Thanks again and many blessings!
This is a very popular question Sherrie! A few years ago I wrote an article for the “Know the Cause” newsletter on this topic. I did extensive research into the differences between green and red apples. I need to simplify the article a bit and post it in my article section here at EWP for all that are interested.
The short answer to the question is that both green and red apples are fantastic and I recommend eating both. Eat whichever you enjoy! It is a myth that green apples have less sugar than red. The truth is that green apples have more malic acid, which gives the green apple a tarter taste, therefore giving the impression that it has less sugar. Malic acid is a potent anti-fungal therefore fantastic for Phase 1.
I recommend organic apples with the peel. The peel is one of the most nutrient dense components of a apple. Non-organic apples are very concentrated in pecticides and chemical wax preservatives. So this is one item that is worth spending the extra money to get organic.
Hope this helps Sherrie. Thanks for your sweet comments!
I cant find the answer on the internet but are maitake mushroom mycelia, reishi mushroom mycelia, and shiitake mushroom mycelia fungal? I was looking at gummy vitamins for my kids and saw this listed and wasnt sure if I should buy this or not. Thanks! Love all your info!!
Just like there are good bacteria and bad bacteria, I believe there are beneficial mushrooms and poisonous mushrooms. In my opinion medicinal mushrooms are a superfood. Great question Kelly!
While doing Phase 1 diet what can you eat for protein if you don’t eat meat?
